Job Purpose

The Farm Manager is responsible for providing leadership and is accountable for various farm management functions which include crop production, Human Resource, budget preparation and implementation, resource allocation for the achievement of the overall set objectives

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Overall Farm Management and administration by overseeing day to day operations.
  • Supervision of farm operations – Follow up to ensure the set tasks, targets and quality achieved.
  • Training, demonstration and guiding the teams/individuals on the farm operations and thereafter evaluating to ensure the required skills/knowledge is impacted.
  • Provide technical agronomic leadership, research to benefit form new developments and innovation in the industry.
  • Adhere to good agricultural practices to ensure optimal production and utilization of land resource- timely operations and cultivation (gaps in filling & replacing dead plants) of arable land.
  • Ensuring that the quality management system conforms to the requirements of International Standards ISO 9001:2015E.
  • Ensure that all the procedures, records and work instructions in the organization adhere to the guidelines stipulated by the control of documents information procedure.
  • Ensure that awareness training on ISO 9001:2015 requirements are carried out to all personnel in the farm and refresher trainings, quality circles are regularly carried out/held.
  • Maintaining good public relations with all the stake holders
  • Budget and plans/programs execution – Draw plans in reference to the crop demand and season requirements for optimal output. Follow up on execution as planned.
  • Budgetary expenditure control – Ensuring the cost of a kilo of produce is maintained within the set budget limits. Prudently assess need; evaluate cost benefit before raising a purchase request.
  • ERP(SAP)utilization – Posting of accurate and timely data to ensure real time reports availability and reliability.
  • Generate daily, weekly, monthly and annual farm production, operations, performance and incident reports.
  • In charge of Human Capital – Ensure employees count at all times and allocate/deploy optimally for maximum output. Ensure adherence to HR policy and other company policies.
  • Resource Management – reviewing the farm and staff performance periodically and institute remedial measure to ensure achievement of set goals. Motivating employees and identifying talent/skills and deploying them accordingly.
  • Ensuring security, accountability and safe custody of company assets, information and resources.
  • Staff welfare – Resolving concerns that affect employees in a timely and fair manner which shall include housing, provision of PPEs, disputes resolution, etc.
  • In charge of Environment, Health & Safety in the Farm.
  • Provide a conducive working environment to employees including dwelling areas cleanliness.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Agriculture or related discipline
  • At least 5 years’ experience.
