Description Of Duties

  • Under the direct supervision of the Operations Officer and the Field Technical officer, the incumbent performs the following duties :-Undertake field trips - Facilitate transport to the field technical officer and other WHO officials to and from specified locations throughout Kenya;Driving WHO official vehicles in a manner compatible with recognized international road safety standards;Maintain vehicle in good running order;Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs, regular servicing and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean;Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumptions, oil changes, greasing, etc.;Ensures that the steps required by the rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accident;Performing any other related duties as required

Required Qualifications
Education

  • Essential: At least Secondary School education. Certificate of good conduct and good knowledge of vehicle mechanics. Must be in possession of a valid and clean drivinglicense
  • Desirable: Technical level of education would be an added advantage and knowledge of basic computer skills.

Experience

  • Essential: At least two years driving experience as a driver and a safe driving record. UN/WHO working experience would be an added advantage.
  • Desirable: Extensive experience driving long distances preferablyin the specific regions of the duty stations. UN experience wouldbe an advantage.

Skills

  • Driving rules andregulations of the country;Familiarity with office procedures and transport needs of the office;Knowledge of driver courtesies;Ability to read,write and understand instructions in the official working languages andAbility to write concise and faithful reports of accidents, when applicable.
