JOB PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Transport Officer, the job holder will provide safe and reliable transportation service to Amref Health Africa in Kenya.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Trip Management

  •  Ensure staff and partners reach their destinations safely and on time.
  •  Have the vehicle ready in advance for each trip.
  •  Be prompt in picking up and dropping off staff and partners.
  •  Ensure all necessary tools for the trip are in the vehicle.
  •  Maintain a smooth ride by avoiding over-speeding.
  •  Complete all trip documentation and obtain required authorizations.
  •  Inspect tyre pressure and oil levels before each trip.
  •  Adhere to vehicle service schedules.
  •  Maintain accurate records of work tickets, including kilometers traveled, fuel consumed, and dates of oil changes.

Vehicle Cleanliness & Maintenance

  •  Ensure that the assigned vehicle has all the required licenses
  •  Regularly wash the car and keep it tidy.
  •  Maintain the vehicle in good working condition.
  •  Ensure repairs are done economically and timely.
  •  Stay alert to potential mechanical issues.

Passenger Safety

  •  Ensure seat belts are functional and all passengers wear them.
  •  Adhere to traffic rules at all times.
  •  Avoid accidents and report any incidents promptly.

Other Duties

  •  Perform any additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience & Competencies

  •  Minimum “O” (Form 4) level of education.
  •  Clean driving licence - Class B, C and D1
  •  Certificate in basic computer applications.
  •  Fluency in oral and written English and Kiswahili with the ability to follow instructions.
  •  Driving experience of more than three years preferably in Non-Governmental Organisation
  •  Good understanding of different vehicle operations.
  •  Good knowledge and conversant with most routes in Kenya.
  •  Ability to understand and implement precautions and preventive measures for proper vehicle maintenance.
  •  Efficiently manage time to ensure timely transportation.
  •  Be flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and needs.
  •  Possess excellent interpersonal skills and show respect to others.
  •  Be well-organized in managing trips and documentation
