Job Summary

  • This role has the responsibility to oversee expansion efforts within the country – spearheading business growth through directing and managing business activities to ensure they are delivered in accordance with the AHN strategy. The incumbent will also supervise construction projects across Kenya, working closely with contractors and consultants to ensure high quality construction with cost effective output.

Responsibilities

New/Old Center Construction:

  • Oversee all aspects of construction of new dialysis centers and repairs/ maintenance in older centers, including quality fixes as per audit team reports, while ensuring adherence to quality standards and timelines
  • Work with the construction teams to prepare and review BOQs, mechanical and electrical drawings, and floor plans for the dialysis centers
  • Oversee all aspects of new center launch from receipt of regulatory approvals and licenses to set up of center equipment prior to launch
  • Oversee construction finances including reviewing, approving and tracking invoices for work claimed, and tracking payments made
  • Liaise with partner hospitals on all aspects of the centre construction and launch including scheduling of meetings and completion of necessary paperwork for new centers

Corporate/Clinical Projects Management:

  • Set up and manage corporate office operations and help launch new dialysis centers
  • Assist with the creation, revision, updating and improvement of operational manuals, templates, guidelines and financial reporting procedures for the office and dialysis centers to ensure successful delivery on all projects.
  • Oversee and support the coordination of travel and accommodation for inter-country staff
  • Follow up to ensure health and safety measures are implemented across all the centers, and oversee the acquisition of all the necessary health and safety equipment

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure that corporate operations and new clinics operations are implemented with sound managerial, technical, financial and overall conducive practices, and that the processes and activities adhere to the organizational policies, legal and contractual obligations, and global AHN standards
  • Obtain and ensure timely renewal of premise licenses and other regulatory documents
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the health landscape in the country

Special Projects:

  • Participate in the acquisition of local construction contractors and support the Country Director on all contract administration matters
  • Manage relationship with architects, contractors and hospital partners in the process of construction
  • Develop timelines for receiving dialysis center equipment from the warehouse
  • Ensure accurate and systematic record-keeping of all aspects of the various operations

Business Development:

  • Provide support to the marketing and awareness initiatives for continuous dialysis center growth and sustainability.
  • Support management on decisions around new center expansion, schedules, budgets, etc

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture/Quantity Surveyor/ Housing and Interior Design.
  • Must have experience in fit-out projects.
  • Training in Project management/PMP Certification is an added advantage
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • A demonstrated interest and passion for working in a healthcare setting
  • Practical mind to solve problems on the spot partnered with an ability to see the “big picture” and make improvements.
  • Attention to detail pre and post inspection
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and work independently and effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • Ability to learn on the job quickly and absorb/synthesize a broad range of information
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and flexibility, respectful of local norms and culture, ability to work with humility and urgency
  • Comfortable in Microsoft Office and using technology in general
  • Willingness to travel 25% - 50% of the time.
