Key Purpose Statement 

  • The primary role of the Team leader packaging is to lead the team in the execution of the production plan, ensuring that product meets all the quality specifications, asset care through autonomous maintenance tasks and the resolution of production problems. This role reports to Unit Manager Packaging

Key Duties & Responsibilities    
Production plan execution

  • Receives, understands and arranges necessary resources pre-requisite to the production plan for the day.
  • Responsible for the daily production plan execution and the achievement of production shift targets.
  • Allocates duties to shift staff and monitors the performance of duties on a continuous basis.
  • Ensures that all materials required for a production run are requisitioned from the store and delivered to the production point in good time to ensure continuous run.

Material yields, Input yields and accountability.

  • Responsible for the custody of all material inputs requisitioned for a given production run.
  • Responsible for the achievement of target LU’s, input yields such as sugar, concentrate, CO2 etc.
  • Accountable for all the yields and ensure that proper use and records are kept.

Safety and Quality

  • Responsible for the maintenance of a conducive environment with all environmental hazards fully mitigated for to ensure quality products, good environment proper occupational health and safety for all employees working in the shift of designation.
  • Responsible as the lead fast aider and fire marshal during the designated shift.

HR Management and accountability

  • Ensure optimal allocation of tasks to staff on a daily basis.
  • Monitor daily attendance of staff.
  • Manage staff seconded to the shift to ensure minimal or no variable staff costs eg. Overtime, casual labour etc.
  • Monitor and deal with staff discipline in the shift of responsibility to ensure a good working environment for all.
  • Monitor, evaluate and appraise performance for all staff in the designated shift and ensure appropriate reward is accorded to the staff.

Stock Accountability & Records.

  • Ensure that all stocks for empty glass issued for a production run are fully accounted for at the end of the batch.
  • Ensure that all full goods produced during a given production run are fully accounted for and issued to the warehouse.
  • Post all production data for every production run into the system and ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

  • Ensure that the production hall, machines, equipment and materials for production are maintained at the highest standards of hygiene to assure high quality products free of contamination.

Skills, Experience & Education    
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Food Science or an Engineering related course.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a busy FMCG environment
