Main Responsibilities

  • Working closely with other Journalists in the service, the successful candidate will create content for a variety of broadcast and digital media platforms, in multiple formats including text, audio and/or video. 
  • You will use your knowledge of the digital media market to produce interesting news and feature contents for our website and social media platforms. 
  • You will work across all BBC Afaan Oromo platforms to ensure the highest quality content is created for our audiences and in accordance with the BBC Values and editorial standards.

Are you the right candidate?

  • The successful candidate will be an experienced Journalist with a full command of Afaan Oromo (written and spoken) and a broadcast-standard of English. Knowledge of other Ethiopian languages would be an added advantage. 
  • Experience of digital newsgathering, original journalism, using various interview techniques and/or filming video from the field is important.  The ideal candidate will have a track record of interviewing and producing high quality digital outputs.
