- The Chef plays a crucial role in the delivery of the Embassy of Ireland’s objectives. The position is busy and highly rewarding, with a requirement for high quality and distinctive catering, combining flexibility and flair.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- The precise range of duties will vary over time according to the needs of the Embassy, but will include the following:
- Planning, preparation and delivery of menus for official and private functions at the Residence and Embassy, as appropriate.
- Designing creative and innovative menus for official functions and events, which reflect
- Ireland’s food heritage and culture, and cater for guests’ dietary requirements.
- Responsibility for the running of the kitchen including stock management, budgeting and planning for small, medium and large scale events, with a view to minimising waste and delivering value for money.
- Ensure full compliance with professional health and safety, and food hygiene standards.
- Monitoring of and accounting for all expenditure within set budget guidelines.
Essential Requirements candidates must be able to demonstrate:
- Excellent communication skills in English;
- Candidates must have a diploma in culinary arts, or a similar qualification;
- At least five years of high-level culinary experience, either in a diplomatic residence, hotel or a high-level restaurant setting;
- Availability for flexible working hours depending on event requirements;
- Excellent organisational, planning and problem-solving skills;
- Experience in managing financial budgets and resources;
- A flexible attitude, good judgement and the ability to work effectively as part of a team;
