Job purpose

  • An officer at this level will be responsible to the Senior Director, Corporate Services in provision of health administrative services in the Hospital.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee implementation of administrative policies, procedures and guidelines;
  • Monitor departmental income and expenditure;
  • Coordinate and maintaining building equipment;
  • Manage the inventory of assets;
  • Manage contracts for maintenance services by outside vendors and ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs);
  • Prepare Annual Operational Plans and budgets for presentation to the management;
  • Ensure quality standards and procedures are followed;
  • Implement performance management initiatives in the department;
  • Ensure safe custody and efficient use of hospital resources; Identify training and development gaps and implement interventions;
  • Provide administrative support to all departments within the Hospital;
  • Promote the Hospital Occupational Health and Safety initiatives;
  • Providing secretariat services to Hospital Committees;
  • Negotiating and setting performance targets for the staff reporting directly;
  • Ensuring security & safety of patients and staff;
  • Participating in policy formulations and implementation;
  • Ensuring timely payment of bills for common services;
  • Coordinating common services in the Hospital;
  • Projection of departmental training needs;
  • Ensuring timely procurement of the departmental requirements; and
  • Making requisitions for appropriate office furniture and equipment.

Qualification & Experience

  • Master’s degree in either; Health Management, Hospital Administration, Hospital Planning, Public Health, Health Economics and Business Administration or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following Social Sciences: Government, Anthropology, Sociology, Business Administration, Public Administration, Commerce, Health Economics, Health Management, Hospital Administration or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Leadership/Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
  • Membership with relevant Professional Body;
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
  • Working experience of minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work with at least three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory position
