The Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing the procurement process to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services necessary for construction projects. The ideal candidate should have 2-3 years of experience and hold a diploma or degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Prior experience working in a construction company is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet project needs and deadlines.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure the best pricing and quality.
- Prepare purchase orders and ensure compliance with company policies and procurement regulations.
- Maintain and update records of purchases, suppliers, and pricing.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure quality standards are met and maintained.
- Work closely with project managers and site teams to forecast procurement needs and manage inventory levels.
- Oversee the timely delivery of materials to construction sites, resolving any supply chain issues that may arise.
- Conduct market research to stay updated on price trends and new products relevant to the construction industry.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers to build long-term partnerships.
- Ensure that all procurement activities are documented accurately for auditing and compliance purposes.
- Collaborate with the finance team to align procurement activities with the budget and project costs.
- Implement and monitor effective procurement processes and procedures.
- Address and resolve any issues related to procurement, including delivery delays or non-compliance.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of proven work experience as a Procurement Officer in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and supplier networks.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with procurement regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
