The Regional Quality Assurance Pharmacist is responsible for implementing the ICRC’s logistics strategy and quality policies as they relate to health-care products in the countries that they cover. Implements good distribution practices (GDPs) at the regional level.

Accountabilities & Functional Responsibilities

  • Responsible both legally and operationally for medical quality assurance management for ICRC Logistics Support Centre,
  • Carry any pharmacist support missions and good manufacturing practice/good distribution practice audits as required,
  • Collects documentation and analyse the national legal requirements of the countries covered for holding a medical distribution centre and other regulations linked to medical products such as donation guidelines, narcotic,
  • Ensures registration and licenses for medical store from National Drug Regulatory Authorities (NDRA) are obtained where required and renewed on time,
  • Audit ICRC medical warehouses and medical logistics activities to prepare recommendations for legal compliance of the national medical warehouse and its satellites (human resources-Quality system) and monitoring any changes in regulations at country level,
  • Support National Teams in any negotiation with National Drug Regulatory Authorities -NDRA
  • Support each national medical warehouse in establishing appropriate storage and distribution facilities, standard operating procedures, working instructions, protocols and records, and quality managements systems including deviation management with the related corrective and preventive actions, global and field change control, risk management, technical guidance on product suitability and batch recall activities,
  • Coordinate qualification of Medical Stores & cold chain equipment and processes,
  • Assess Pharmaceutical market in case of emergencies and train local staff to health care products purchasing policy,
  • Evaluate suppliers and health products, offering technical guidance to ensure they meet the necessary quality and regulatory standards, in the region,
  • Supervise the Performance Management & Development (PMD) activities for employees under their supervision.

What we will look for in your profile

  • Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized university,
  • Post graduate degree in relevant fields is an asset,
  • 10-15 years’ work experience in Quality Assurance or production departments in pharmaceutical companies/humanitarian organization,
  • Experience related to Quality management in wholesale pharmaceutical distribution,
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (Knowledge of French is an asset),
  • Advanced computer skills, advanced user of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point),
  • Experience of pharmaceutical markets in low- and middle-income countries (in humanitarian organization) is an added advantage,
  • Excellent knowledge of the WHO and EU Good Distribution practices,
  • Excellent understanding of the WHO Model Quality Assurance Systems methodologies,
  • Good knowledge of worldwide pharmaceutical regulations and market,
  • Must be a registered pharmacist with the pharmacy and poisons board, Ministry of Medical Services, Republic of Kenya,
  • Team player with good communication skills,
  • Ability to travel as and when required.
