The position The position is in the Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics in the Faculty of Health Sciences under the MAP - AMR Project - Monitor and Prevent Antimicrobial Resistance in Kenya (MAP-AMR Kenya)” a five (5) year CDC project that is being conducted in the following hospitals: Kenyatta National Hospital, The Nairobi Hospital, MP Shah Hospital, Machakos Level 5 Hospital, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital and Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Location
- The position holders will be based at the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital, Kenyatta University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital reporting to the Laboratory Coordinator in the duty station and Project Medical officer
Job description
- Receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms/specimens
- Preparing clients for collection of specimens
- Receiving/collecting, labelling and registering of specimens
- Transferring specimens for processing and analysis
- Dispatching the results for clinical management
- Storing blood, microbiological specimen/cultures and other body products according to their requirements
- Decontaminating working benches
Job specifications
- A Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences
- Be registered with Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB)
- Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB)
- Certificate in computer application
- He/she should have at least one (1) year experience in supporting laboratory activities in donor funded programs.
