Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Strategy, the Mission Execution & Monitoring Manager will play a critical role in driving the successful execution of the company’s strategy and annual mission. This individual will monitor, analyze, and report on market trends, competitor activities, and overall industry developments to ensure the company is proactively adapting to changes. The role involves refining strategic priorities, establishing performance metrics, and facilitating a structured cadence for reviewing progress on mission execution.
Job Responsibilities
Market Analysis & Industry Monitoring:
- Continuously monitor current market trends, competitor strategies, and broader industry developments.
- Identify potential opportunities and risks that could impact the organization’s strategic plan and annual mission.
- Translate market insights into actionable recommendations for refining the mission and strategic initiatives.
Strategic Prioritization & Adjustments:
- Evaluate and assess the alignment of the company’s mission with evolving market conditions.
- Refine and adjust existing mission priorities as necessary to maintain strategic relevance and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution of strategy updates including supporting the quarterly business review (QBR) and planning.
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Lead the companywide Mission Status Review process, including setting the cadence for reviews and communicating key decisions, actions and priorities across the company.
- Prepare comprehensive updates and reports to senior management and the Board on the progress of key strategic initiatives.
- Facilitate executive decision-making by presenting data-driven insights and actionable recommendations.
Data Analytics & Business Intelligence:
- Utilize business intelligence platforms to build robust reports on mission execution.
- Analyze data to draw meaningful insights related to the performance of strategic initiatives.
- Provide deep-dive analytics into trends and potential bottlenecks in strategy execution.
Strategy Development & Execution Best Practices:
- Maintain a deep understanding of strategy development and execution processes.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices for strategic planning and implementation.
- Ensure that the company’s strategy execution processes are efficient, effective, and aligned with industry standards.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & Metrics Development:
- Develop clear metrics and KPIs/measures of success to effectively measure the success and progress of strategic initiatives.
- Ensure KPIs are aligned with overall organizational strategic goals and mission execution.
- Regularly track and report on these metrics, identifying potential areas for improvement.
Key Performance Indicators
- Number of market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments identified per quarter. Target: 3-5 relevant insights identified per quarter.
- Percentage of insights leading to actionable recommendations. Target: 80% of identified insights result in strategic recommendations or adjustments.
- Timeliness of market/competitor analysis reports: Target: 100% of reports delivered within agreed-upon timeframes.
- Quality of mission reviews driving towards clear outcomes: Target: Mission course correction priorities identified in monthly Mission Status Reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Strategy, Analytics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategic planning, business analysis, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of strategy development and execution frameworks especially Mission Leadership®.
- Proficiency with business intelligence and data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights.
- Experience collaborating with senior management and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions.
