Job Purpose
- The Job holder is responsible for ensuring effective implementation and coordination of airport security operations, quality control activities, aviation security training and manpower administration, investigations and related functions to meet the requirements of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Kenya Civil Aviation Security Regulations, Kenya National Civil Aviation Security Program (KNCASP) and Airport Security Program.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Overseeing implementation aviation security measures at the airport in compliance with the requirements of ICAO Annex 17, Kenya National Civil Aviation Security Program and other applicable legislations;
- Managing and conducting performance management reviews for Security Section at the airport;
- Overseeing issuance of daily and long-term security passes to control access to restricted areas at the airport;
- Liaising with other security agencies at the airport and coastal region to share security information and ensure safe, secure and smooth operations;
- Developing and ensuring implementation of airport security programs, quality control program, training program, contingency plans and standard operation procedures;
- Liaising with national and international partners and other stakeholders in conducting security oversight activities to ensure strict compliance with ICAO annex 17 Standards and Recommended Practices;
- Assessing security risks and threats in liaison with other security agencies at the airport and coastal civil aerodromes to ensure continued security at the airport;
- Undertaking research and recommend to management on appropriate and emerging technology for aviation security equipment to mitigate emerging aviation risks and threats;
- Providing corrective action, resolution of security incidences, complaints and providing leadership to the station security team; and
- Overseeing outsourced security services and ensuring that they comply with the Service Level Agreement (SLAs) at the airport and coastal civil aerodromes.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Security Management, Forensics, Military Science or a related field from a recognized institution of higher learning
- Master’s degree is desirable
- Minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience three (3) of which must be in a supervisory position
- Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
- Professional qualification in aviation security or related field
- Proficiency in computer applications

- Teamwork, good communication, interpersonal, supervisory and analytical skills.

- Clearance from the Ethics & Anti-corruption Authority (EACC)
- Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
The clearance certificates should be valid and current. The self-declaration Form from EACC should indicate the respective position that is being applied for.
