The Position
The position is domiciled in the Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics in the Faculty of Health Sciencies, under the IMPALA study. This is a two (2) year project that will be conducted in (2) hospitals: namely Kenyatta National Hospital and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Location
This is a full time position based at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu, its holder reports to the Study Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilites
- Recruitment, follow up, retention and monitoring of study participants in accordance with the study protocols and sops for the IMPALA and BFTAF Study
- Screening and enrolment of eligible participants
- Obtaining informed consent from participants
- Providing clinical care of study participants
- Supporting treatment adherence
- Collection and entry of study information in approved clinical report forms
- Completion of required MoH tools, registers and electronic medical records
- Safe and confidential custody of study source and other study documents
- Collection and shipment of study specimen
- Prescribing of study medication
- Assessing for and reporting adverse events and serious adverse events
- Ensuring retention of study participants in care
- Data entry on electronic and manual study tools and timely response to data queries
- Submission of weekly reports
- Any other duties described in the study protocols and SOPs and/or assigned by supervisor
Job Specifications
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine
- Registered to practice with the Clinical Officers Council (COC)
- Current practice certificate from the COC
- Certification in the National Advanced HIV Clinical Course
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with direct HIV clinical care provision, including prescribing ARVs
- MUST have a current Certificate of Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Evidence of intermediate IT skills
- Research experience is an added advantage
