DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Analyze financial performance and present reports to management.
- Generate management reports to provide insights into trends, variances, and forecasts.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and other department heads to develop the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance against actual revenues and expenses.
- Process and verify supplier invoices to ensure timely payments while maintaining good vendor relationships.
- Prepare aging reports to monitor receivables and escalate collection efforts where necessary.
- Process monthly payroll, ensuring that all salaries, allowances, and statutory deductions are accurately calculated and disbursed on time.
- Perform bank reconciliations for all hotel accounts to ensure consistency between the bank statements and the general ledger.
- Monitor daily cash flow and ensure that cash collections (e.g., from F&B and front desk) are deposited promptly.
- Collaborate with the procurement and stores departments to ensure accurate tracking of inventory levels and stock valuation.
- Identify areas where operational costs can be reduced without compromising quality.
- Ensure compliance with all local regulations, including:
- VAT, PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, and income tax regulations.
- Filing and remitting all statutory obligations on time to avoid penalties.
- Coordinate with external auditors during the annual financial audits and ensure all records are available for review.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Commerce (BCom), Finance, or a related field or CPA K
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working as an accountant in a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance and tax regulations in Kenya.
- Ability to conduct cost analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
