Key Responsibilities
- Developing Department’s Business Tourism Strategy and Annual Work Plans in collaboration with stakeholders
- Conceptualize events and exhibition to ensure competitiveness, increased engagements and conversion
- Advises the Board and Management on identification and implementation of the departmental plan and on opportunities to realize maximum returns
- Identifies strategic partners to complement events exhibition cost
- Reviews the departmental reports to determine the level of effectiveness to inform subsequent strategies and actions.
- Develop the departments Strategy and annual Work Plan in collaboration with Business Development Manager and Regional Deputy Directors, ensuring timely implementation to achieve targets.
- Designs the concept of the event / exhibition based on the objectives established
- Coordinates the Implementation of the department’s activities as guided by the AWP
- Manages, supervises and monitors the department’s performance in order to achieve objectives.
- Implements a system to measure the performance of events and exhibition activities.
- Manages the department’s budget
- Monitors and evaluates events & exhibitions’ effectiveness as a marketing tool.
- Implements Quality Management System within the department
- Manages the risk for the department.
- Develops policies, strategies and procedures for the department
- Identifies exhibition process improvements that reduce cost, improve quality and allow for the more efficient usage of organizational resources
- Negotiates sponsorship deals to complement events exhibition cost
- Negotiates on exhibition locations, materials, space and cost
- Oversee planning, execution and implementation of KTB’s local and international events;
- Managing the KTB’s MICE ambassador programme and communicate with key stakeholders such as ministries, embassies, government institutions, NGOs, corporate leaders, university professors;
- Oversee the planning and hosting site inspection visits for confirmed international clients and qualified potential international buyers
- Spearhead the development of a database of national, regional and international MICE clients, planners, buyers and intermediaries
- Identify marketing communication channels appropriate for Business Tourism
- Overseeing timely and efficient implementation of the department’s plans and activities
- Developing tools, metrics and parameters to measure the contribution of the organization to growth of tourism and export sectors
- Oversee maintenance and tracking of potential business leads, sales bids won and lost and produce monthly reports
- Collaborate with the key stakeholders to develop relevant strategies and techniques for use in business tourism development
Key Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate must possess the following:
- Minimum of at least ten (10) years’ experience in a relevant field with at least five (5) in Exhibitions and Events Management and with Five (5) years in a supervisory position
- Master’s degree in any of the following; Marketing, Tourism Management, Business Administration or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial design, Interior design or related field with OR Bachelor’s Degree in any field from a recognized institution with Postgraduate Diploma in Design from a recognized institution.
- Member of a relevant professional body
- Management course lasting not less than four weeks
- Proficiency in computer applications
