Job Requirement
- Served in the grade of Senior Enforcement Officer for a minimum period of three (3)years
- Bachelor Degree in the following disciplines; Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Architecture Construction Management or Town planning or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution
- Certificate in Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Certificate in Computer applications skills from a recognized institution;
- Associate membership of Kenya Institute of Planners (KIP) or Architectural Association of Kenya (Town Planning Chapter);
- Demonstrate managerial, administrative and technical competence in the execution of Physical Planning Assistants function.
Job Description
- Coordinate specific urban development projects under the guidance of senior management including organizing project teams, tracking progress and ensuring adherence to timelines
- Supporting implementation of urban planning policies, strategies and guidelines by facilitating their application in development projects.
- Conducting inspections before, during, and after construction to ensure that the building and construction site complies with safety, structural, and building code regulations.
- Giving technical advice on matters relating to Urban Development & Planning
- identifying Illegal development through routine surveillance.
- Receiving of complaints directly from members of the public or through the Director’s office.
- Undertaking enforcement action through issuing enforcement notices /stop-work orders, and permits for construction
- Arresting violators of the rules/regulations taking them to court through Liaising with both legal department and the State Law office on planning matters.
- Undertaking removal of the illegal developments/structures.
- Inspecting the building structure, plumbing, electrical, sewerage, and heating systems for safety and specification compliance.
- Maintaining daily construction logs and ensuring that the construction site adheres to all safety codes.
- Any other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the Assistant Director.
