ARTISAN II (MASON) GRADE 3 1 POSITION REF: PU/ADV/09/05/2025
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION OF ARTISAN II (MASON) GRADE 3
- This is an entry position in the University to this cadre and appointment shall be on such terms and conditions as may be determined by the Council from time to time depending on age, citizenship or any other reason as may be stipulated in the Kenyan Labour Laws.
Academic Qualification
- The candidate must have a minimum mean grade of D+ (plus) at KCSE or equivalent and a Trade Test II Certificate in Masonry from a recognised institution.
Experience
- The candidate must have a minimum six (6) years relevant work experience with proven integrity, independence, innovativeness and compliance to deadlines.
- In addition, the candidate must have experience in handling the following:
Skills
- Demonstration of hands-on ability to complete tasks
- Practicing safe working habits
- Submission of reports to supervisor
The candidate must have:
- Communication skill
- Knowledge of works in the area of specialization
- Mastery of power or hand tools used in his work
- Team work skills
In addition, the candidate should have experience in the following;
Skills
- Conducting routine inspections to identify repair and maintenance needs for welding and metal-related works.
- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
- Specifying and quantifying the materials to be used in projects.
- Construction, repair and maintenance ofwalls, floors, pavements and other structures.
- Mixing ofcement, sand and/or aggregate per the required ratios for the specified works e.g. brick laying, plastering, concrete works, tiling, brick making etc.
- Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to build or refurbish walls as instructed.
- Collaborating with other design and construction specialists.
- Keeping the workplace and tools clean.
- Obey and adhere to all health and safety regulations.
- Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
