Requirements for appointment

  • Diploma in any of the following fields:- Applied Sciences (Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biology), Food Science and Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution;
  • Possess a current valid practicing certificate;
  • Membership of a relevant professional body;

Duties and responsibilities:-

  • Carry out chemical/microbiological analysis on samples;
  • Receive, document and analyze specimens for pathology and carry out appropriate testing;
  • Clean and sterilize laboratory glassware, surfaces and equipment;
  • Dispose laboratory waste; and
  • Extract, isolate and identify drugs, pesticides and heavy metals from biological and miscellaneous samples.
