Requirements for Appointment
- Bachelor of Education or Early Childhood Development and Education degree from a recognized institution; OR Bachelor of Arts/Science with Education from a recognized institution; OR Bachelor of Arts/ Science and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from a recognized institution;
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor the implementation of ECDE programs across the county to ensure adherence to national and county education standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of ECDE centers to assess the quality of teaching, learning environments, and child development outcomes.
- Enforce compliance with the Ministry of Education’s ECDE policies and regulations at the county level.
- Assist in the formulation and review of county ECDE policies and strategies.
- Organize and facilitate training, workshops, and professional development for ECDE teachers and caregivers to improve service delivery.
- Identify gaps in teacher competencies and recommend appropriate interventions.
- Provide technical support and guidance to ECDE center managers and teaching staff.
- Supervise curriculum implementation and ensure developmentally appropriate practices are used.
- Collect, analyze, and report data on ECDE performance indicators and school readiness.
- Prepare quality assurance reports and make recommendations for improvements.
- Collaborate with parents, local communities, NGOs, and other education stakeholders to promote quality ECDE.
- Promote child rights and welfare in line with national and international standards.
- Evaluate the adequacy and use of teaching and learning materials, facilities, and other resources in ECDE centers.
- Recommend improvements for better learning environments and safety standards.
- Ensure all ECDE centers meet the minimum operational standards required for licensing and registration.
- Maintain updated records of licensed ECDE centers within the county.
- Plan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against the set targets
