Legal Officer

Key Responsibilities

Legal Advisory & Contract Management

  • Provide legal advice and opinions to management and business units across the Group.
  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, agreements, MOUs, NDAs and other legal documents.
  • Ensure all company contracts and engagements comply with applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Support operational teams in negotiations and contract execution.

Compliance & Governance

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement compliance frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Track changes in laws and regulations and advise management accordingly.
  • Support company secretarial functions, including statutory filings and maintenance of corporate records.

Risk Management & Dispute Resolution

  • Identify potential legal and compliance risks across the Group and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Manage disputes, claims and litigation in coordination with external counsel.
  • Maintain a register of ongoing legal matters and prepare periodic status reports.

Policy Development & Training

  • Participate in developing and reviewing internal policies to ensure legal soundness.
  • Conduct internal awareness and training sessions on compliance and regulatory obligations.
  • Promote ethical conduct and good governance practices across the Group.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate (mandatory).
  • 3–4 years’ post-admission experience in corporate legal practice, either in a reputable law firm or in-house environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management, compliance, and corporate advisory.
  • Knowledge of employment, data protection, and commercial law will be an added advantage.
