About the Role
Our client, Sierra Premium Breweries Ltd, is seeking a skilled and proactive Machine Operator to join their production team. This role is critical in ensuring smooth, efficient, and high-quality beverage production while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about process improvement, with a strong mechanical or technical background in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and adjust assigned machines and equipment in line with production schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform machine start-ups, shutdowns, and product changeovers while minimizing downtime and maintaining product quality.
- Record, monitor, and control process parameters to ensure all products meet required specifications.
- Conduct daily checks, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting to reduce breakdowns and maintain uptime.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance and Quality teams to address mechanical or quality-related issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate production logs, quality checklists, and equipment maintenance records.
- Ensure machines and work areas are cleaned, sanitized, and compliant with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP standards.
- Promote safety-first behavior, adhere to PPE requirements, and report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance overall plant performance.
- Execute 5S principles and ensure readiness of machines as per the daily and weekly production plans.
- Participate in team meetings, shutdown maintenance, and equipment audits to ensure operational excellence.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Food Science & Technology, Process/Biochemical Engineering, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- 1–2 years of experience in machine operation and maintenance, preferably within a beverage or FMCG manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with brewing, packaging, or process plant operations (e.g., Boilers, CIP systems, Pasteurizers, Water Treatment Plants, etc.) is an added advantage.
- Sound understanding of quality systems, safety protocols, and environmental regulations (KEBS, NEMA, OSHA 2007, Public Health).
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering high-quality output.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
