Role Purpose
The TVET Setup & Lead Instructor will play a central role in establishing the new TVET arm of Swaminarayan Academy Embakasi.
The role involves leading the setup and accreditation processes, finalizing course offerings, developing training resources, and establishing systems for quality delivery and sustainability.
The position bridges academic leadership, technical coordination, and institutional setup, ensuring alignment with CBC, NITA, and TVETA standards while upholding the school’s mission of empowering low-income learners with employable, industry-relevant skills.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Accreditation
- Lead the preparation of documents and processes required for TVETA accreditation and registration.
- Liaise with TVETA and NITA to ensure courses, trainers, and facilities meet the required standards.
- Develop an implementation roadmap for the TVET’s first three years.
Course Development & Curriculum Alignment
- Finalize course offerings aligned with STEM pathways and local industry demand.
- Integrate NITA-approved curricula and adapt them for CBC/competency-based implementation.
- Recommend instructional materials, training aids, and practical assessment tools.
Infrastructure & Resource Setup
- Assist the board in identifying, designing, and equipping training workshops and labs.
- Prepare lists of required equipment, consumables, and safety installations per course area.
- Support procurement planning and oversee initial setup of facilities.
Recruitment & Capacity Building
- Participate in the recruitment and orientation of future TVET instructors.
- Mentor junior trainers and provide input on instructor development plans.
- Establish frameworks for performance management and continuous professional development.
Industry Linkages & Partnerships
- Initiate relationships with local industries, businesses, and training partners for attachment placements and collaboration.
- Explore donor, CSR, and NGO partnerships for equipment, funding, and learner support.
Monitoring, Reporting & Evaluation
- Maintain progress reports on setup activities, accreditation milestones, and resource readiness.
- Advise the board on challenges, risks, and resource needs.
- Prepare a monthly setup progress report and a quarterly milestone review.
Transition to Operational Phase
- Develop an operational framework for training delivery, including class timetables, instructor supervision, and student assessment systems.
- Prepare to assume a dual role as Lead Instructor and Coordinator once the TVET becomes operational.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum: Higher Diploma in a relevant technical area (Engineering, ICT, Hospitality, or related).
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Education, TVET Management, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience teaching or managing a registered training institute or TVET center.
- Proven involvement in TVET setup, curriculum implementation, or accreditation processes.
- Familiarity with NITA and TVETA standards.
- Industry exposure in technical practice will be an added advantage.
