Key Responsibilities
- Be the Administrative head and Accounting Officer of the Council, manage and plan for the efficient use of Council resources;
- Administer the day-to-day operations of the Council;
- Develop and recommend to the Council the annual business plans for the institution;
- Ensure that the Institution has an effective management structure including succession plans;
- Ensure that Board papers are accurately written, are relevant and availed to the Council members in good time;
- Serve as a link between the Council and the management;
- Provide leadership to senior management and staff;
- Oversee the implementation of the Council’s decisions in an effective, efficient, result oriented and timely manner;
- Be responsible for the achievement of the objectives of the institution;
- Maintain good order of the Council and ensure compliance with Statutes and Regulations;
- Put in place effective administrative structures, processes and systems;
- Provide regular, thorough and prompt communication to the Council on key technical, financial and administrative matters;
- Comply with financial reporting requirements;
- Oversee the preparation of budgets and establish proper internal controls;
- Manage Councils’ risk profile;
- Ensure the development and efficient management of Human Resources;
- Foster local and international partnerships with institutions of higher learning, research and other agencies;
- Mobilize financial and other resources;
- Be responsible for stakeholder management and enhancement of the corporate image of the institution;
- Perform other duties as the Council may, from time to time, assign.
Person Specification
- Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized institution;
- Master’s Degree in Law from a recognized university;
- Doctorate in Law from a recognized university will be an added advantage;
- Satisfactory served a cumulative period of fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience five (5) of which should be at the Senior management level;
- An Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
- Leadership course from a recognized institution;
- Have knowledge and experience in policy formulation, management and procedures of the Government;
- Have knowledge in, or have actively contributed to the promotion of Legal Education and Training in Kenya;
- Be of the highest ethical standards, integrity and professionalism; and
- Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
