Inpatient Billing Nurse

Job Objective/Purpose

To ensure accurate and complete billing of inpatient services in accordance with Avenue Healthcare’s defined policies, procedures,standards and strategies

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily review of patients’ billing statements, including alldischarged patients, for accuracy and completion prior tofinalization of the invoices.
  • Ensure services noted in the patient’s chart are billed andclarify any other services rendered with attendingclinicians.
  • Resolve incoming queries on billing from patients,insurance companies, consultants or colleagues in aprofessional and efficient manner.
  • Provide billing information by collecting, analyzing, andsummarizing third-party billings, accounts pending, andlate charges data and trends.
  • Prepare billing statements for insurance companies,patients and other third parties.
  • Prepare reports and respond to inquiries concerningbilling activities.
  • Participate in audits, service evaluations and processreviews to enhance the delivery of billing service tocustomers/stakeholders.
  • Ensure all patient encounters and procedures are postedcorrectly with the current ICD and CPT codes.
  • Client satisfaction (patient, consultants andothers)-
  • Ensure client satisfaction through optimal qualityof care, effective communication, timelyfeedback and escalation of unresolved issues.
  • Oversee the Education of staff, includingorientation and Training to ensure performanceimprovement on patient billing.
  • Ensure that Avenue Healthcare corporategovernance policies are adhered to, includingpreventing, detecting, and reporting any fraud orcriminal activities, and Implementing auditrecommendations.
  • Ensure adequate knowledge of, and complianceto all Avenue Healthcare policies, procedures,and systems, especially policies pertaining to theprovision of medical services.
  • Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor inline with the job description.

Personal Specifications

  • Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN) or BsN 
  • A valid Nursing License from NCK
  • Finance Training (CPA III) highly desirable
  • 1+ years nursing experience and 2+ years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a Hospital set-up
  • Customer focus
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team playing abilities, and communication skills.
  • Highly responsive, ethical and responsible
