Description

  • Valar is seeking a Security Driver and Fleet Manager who will be responsible for managing and coordinating the company's fleet of vehicles and providing secure and timely driving services. They will be personally responsible for the safety and security of all passengers entrusted to their care. Ensure that the vehicle is not left unattended and conduct a 360 degrees vehicle sweep before and after any movement. Keep abreast of tactical operational procedures, and emergency and contingency planning procedures of Valar for road movements.
  • In addition, the Fleet Manager will be responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance and service of all Valar vehicles, determining maintenance needs, and tracking general maintenance schedules, including tire conditions. The Fleet Manager will report directly to the Senior Logistics Officer and must maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport company staff and personnel to and from designated locations.
  • Ensure the safety of passengers at all times.
  • Perform any other tasks as would be required.
  • Facilitate airport pick up and drop off for Valar staff & visitors;
  • Be familiar with the company tracking and management system;
  • Ensure well-maintained & serviced vehicle;
  • Maintain telephone contact with the line manager during field missions;
  • Maintain vehicles log sheets on a daily basis: maintain records of motor vehicle’s daily activity showing journey, mileage, consumables, and signature of authorizing officer; 
  • Adhere to the VALAR safety and security policy, observe traffic and safety precautions to prevent motor vehicle accidents and traffic violations;
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.

Working Conditions

  • The driver will be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • The driver will be required to work in various weather conditions.
  • The driver may be required to travel long distances.
  • The driver will be required to interact with a variety of people, including company staff and family members.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • A minimum of three years experience in security services, civilian police force, military police, or other relevant military operations with a safe driving record is an essential requirement. Previous training and experience as a Close Protection/Personal Security Team Driver would be beneficial.
  • Possess previous training and experience as a Security Team Driver
  • Certificate in Defensive Driving
  • Valid Driving License Class B, C, E. 
  • Valid First Aid Training Certificate.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a driver
  • Clean driving record.
  • Certificate of good conduct. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good physical condition, with the ability to lift and move heavy objects if necessary.
  • Familiarity with the local area.
