Job purpose
The Chief Manager Technical Services will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing strategies and plans that will guarantee the organization efficiency and effectiveness in its operations through benchmarking on capital investments and product development, implementation and maintenance of quality management systems and adherence to developed standard operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise management on policies and strategies relating to raw milk procurement, production, and engineering functions of the company.
- Develop, implement, and execute strategies that will guarantee availability of quality raw milk.
- Establish and implement of strategies for extension services to farmers to enhance loyalty.
- Develop relationships and networking with stakeholders in the industry and other partners.
- Develop sustainable production strategies in line with the set business objectives.
- Management of the movement of milk through the processing operations and overseeing activities directly related to the production of finished goods.
- Develop innovative improvements for existing product as well as the development of new products.
- Appraising of plant and factory facilities, layouts and processes and determining areas of improvement and efficiencies.
- Benchmark with the industry to inform strategic direction of the business.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures and specifications as a guide in the production process.
- Develop, implement, and execute strategies and plans that will ensure production machinery, availability, transport fleet availability and timely execution of Engineering related capital projects in the company.
- Oversee development and implementation of maintenance schedules of the company assets, which include plant and machinery, buildings, and motor vehicles for reliable performance.
- Oversee identification and disposal of obsolete assets and materials as per the set guidelines.
- Prepare periodical management and Board reports to update management and Board on performance of the Directorate of Technical Service.
- Any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
Qualifications and Personal Specifications
- A minimum period of fifteen (15) years’ relevant work experience, five (5) years of which must be in Senior Management.
- Bachelors is degree in Food science or a relevant field from a recognized University.
- Masters in Food Science and technology or MBA-Strategic Management or a relevant field from a recognized University.
- Certified in ISO systems Management/Quality Management Systems
- Professional qualification and membership to a professional body where applicable.
- Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Have knowledge and a clear understanding of the dairy sector.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of local, national, and international conventions and treaties governing Dairy affairs.
