Our Client, operating a portfolio of various businesses in hospitality, manufacturing, real estate, farming and retail sectors, seeks to recruit a Group CFO who will provide strategic direction and thought leadership in the Finance departments across the Group. They will be responsible for Group’s strategy, accounting, financial planning and tax functions.

Indirectly Reports to: The Group MD, The Board of Directors

Direct Supervision:Heads of Finance, Chief Accountants

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Lead in the development and execution of the Group’s overall financial strategywhich may involve growth initiatives, cost-saving measures, and investment decisions.
  • Develop and maintain the group’s annual budget through setting of sales, expenditure and profit targets as well as establishing a tracking mechanism for budget adherence;
  • Develop and continuously administer a departmental profitability analysis and insightful monthly management reporting that drives the right performance behaviour for all functions;
  • Coordinate activities with external audit firms as well as the Internal Auditor and implement audit recommendations promptly;
  • Develop, implement and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including financial accounting and reporting;
  • Develop and maintain the group’s financial and reporting systems by ensuring all departments input accurate data and ensure proper record maintenance at all times including maintaining a fixed asset register;
  • Provide financial consultancy service to the Group’s Management for developingpromotions to increase revenues or to adopt cost management measures to improve profitability;
  • Report on the group’s performance and prepare periodic financial reports covering areas such as operational effectiveness, budget trends and variancesas well as cost control initiatives for the Board;
  • Oversee the treasury function by ensuring optimum utilization of the group’s cash resources and bank facilities as well as ensure adequate cash supply at the group at all times;
  • Coordinate and manage the credit control function while ensuring receivables are maintained within the agreed credit limits/age;
  • Review and manage the Group’s capital budgeting and spend processes and to ensure projects are prioritised accordingly and funds identified and allocated appropriately
  • Engage and collaborate with the various business heads across the Group to ensure financial strategy is aligned to business objectives
  • Ensure the Group complies with all financial regulations and tax obligationswhile proactively overseeing tax planning and compliance efforts.
  • Oversee the maintenance of thegeneral ledger, daily banking and ensure monthly reconciliation of all group bank accounts
  • Control and optimize expenses, including staff costs, food and beverage costs, and all operational expenses while ensuring suppliers are paid within agreed timelines;
  • Ensure that all required insurances policies of the group are in effect as well as all necessary licenses and land rate payments are renewed and paid on time
  • Maintain a register of all third party contracts signed by the group and undertake annual review of the same;
  • Lead and manage your team while fostering a positive work environment as you develop and mentor staff across the function;
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualified and registered CPA

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of8 yearssenior management experience(managing the Finance function)
  • Management of group structures and IT system audit experience will be added advantage
  • Candidates with experience working for organizations with multiple businesses are highly desirable.
