Data Manager at Kenya Medical Research - KEMRI

Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review data entered into REDCap system for accuracy and completeness. This will be done either by reviewing surveys to confirm completeness or by comparing source records (e.g. lab results) to data entered into redcap
  • Run routine data quality verification & error detection scripts and issue queries on identified data quality issues
  • Monitor query resolution queue and follow up relevant data collectors
  • Respond to data queries issued by the study sponsor
  • Study monitoring and reporting:
  • Monitor study recruitment and retention, update accrual template and provide weekly progress reports
  • Flag participants who have missed expected contact points and report to study coordinator
  • Targeted data cleaning and analysis support for quarterly data and safety monitoring board (DSMB) meeting
  • End of study preparation for closeout and data lock
  • Focused one-off projects
  • Collaborate on developing study accrual report template
  • Refining data validation rules and script
  • End of study descriptive analyses

Vacancy Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Biostatistics/Statistics or Applied Mathematics or an equivalent from a recognized University    Mandatory
  • Ability to work with statistical software’s such as STATA, SAS or R    Mandatory
  • Competency in working with REDCap or a similar research electronic data capture software    Mandatory
  • Flexibility to work during non-business hours; being available for calls outside of business hours due to time differences between the U.S. and Kenya    Mandatory
