About the role:

BURN is looking for a Deputy CEO, the second in command, reporting to the chief executive officer (CEO), who will serve as the key executive leader, playing a crucial role in implementing the company's strategies, overseeing daily operations, and driving initiatives for sustainable growth.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to navigate the complexities of our industry, foster innovation, and ensure the continued success of BURN.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Implementation: Collaborate with the CEO and other executives to implement strategic plans to achieve organisational goals and objectives.
  • Operations Oversight: Oversee day-to-day operations of various departments or business units within the organisation, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and guidance to department heads and managers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Financial Management: Work closely with the CFO to assist in financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to support organisational growth and sustainability.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, board members, customers, and employees.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and opportunities for the organization, develop strategies to mitigate risks, and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Change Management: Lead or support organizational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and effective implementation of new processes or systems.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare and present reports to the CEO, board of directors, and other stakeholders on the company's performance, progress towards goals, and other relevant matters.
  • Government Relations: Represent BURN in government meetings, and industry forums and lead stakeholder engagement efforts to ensure a positive relationship with external partners, including government entities, to support our goals. Advocate for favourable policies, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage government-related issues.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Strategic management, Economics, or a related field (an MBA is advantageous)
  • Demonstrate a track record of 5+ years in an executive business management role (C-suite), showcasing a history of successfully steering organizations through periods of growth, innovation, and sustained excellence.
  • Exhibit excellent leadership skills, characterized by a steadfast resolve to overcome challenges, inspire teams, and foster a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Possess a deep understanding of advanced business planning, strategic development, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
  • Showcase a history of successfully formulating and executing business strategies that align with organizational goals while adhering to regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, showcasing the ability to secure financial resources strategically and build lasting relationships with investors and stakeholders.
  • International business experience, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of global markets, cultural nuances, and the ability to navigate diverse business landscapes.
