The Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation was established through a Legal Gazette Notice No. 265 of 1986 as a State Corporation with the aim of promoting forest conservation by providing buffer zones of tea and assorted tree species to check against human encroachment into the forestland.

Job Specification

  • Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:
  • Managing tea/tree blocks to meet expected goals and output per hectare/bush in terms of quality and quantity.
  • Preparing and implementing approved scheduled work plans for all field activities;
  • Planning for timely availability of required supplies/inputs for farms/blocks for achievement of set performance targets;
  • Ensuring effective management of tea bushes and trees in the blocks in order to maximize yield per hectare and as per approved policies and procedures;
  • Implementing field plans and strategies as per approved policies;
  • Training employees on production method, process standards and specifications of green leaf & forest conservation;
  • Assisting in coordinating the transport systems, including proper maintenance of transport fleet for green leaf collection and delivery to the factories;
  • Assisting in coordinating agricultural and forest development projects in the zone, including monitoring the expansion of tea in new areas;
  • Assisting in coordinating stakeholder activities in the zone;
  • Assisting in implementing agriculture and forest conservation plans and strategies as per approved policies;
  • Assisting in ensuring field equipment are repaired and calibrated;
  • Coordinating and organizing for timely collection and delivery of quality green leaf from buying centres;
  • Liaising with Zone Manager and Supervisors on enforcing green leaf quality;
  • Assisting in establishing tea and tree nurseries in the zone;
  • Assisting in Preparing timely and accurate reports and distributing them to appropriate users;
  • Participating in monitoring the performance of all green leaf production units and forest conservation in the assigned zone;
  • Participating preparation of budget and control through effective utilization of available resources in the zone; and
  • Preparing muster roll and payment of wages in consultation with the Zone Manager.

Person Specifications

  • For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Agriculture, Horticulture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension and Education, Agricultural Studies or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Proficiency in computer application;
