MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOBS
Managerial / Supervisory/ Operational Responsibilities or roles:
- Lead and supervise all legal and litigation matter in liaison with external lawyers.
- Review and validate of collaterals and/or charge documents, discharge and/or perfection of securities.
- Drafting and review of all legal and third-party contracts before and after execution.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements namely Acts of Parliament, Sacco By-Laws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
- Conduct periodic review of requisite legal documents by-laws, policies, rules and regulations.
- Periodic review of all legal and third-party contracts before and after execution.
- Provision of timely information and guidance on renewals and or termination of contracts.
- Ensure safe custody of both electronic and physical legal documentation.
Data Protection and AML Compliance
- Provision of appropriate interpretation of legal information.
- Conduct staff training and guidance on management of legal matters.
- Ensuring the identification, assessments, and mitigation of legal and regulatory risks.
- Ensure effective follow-up of all cases, attendance of court and follow-up on judgements and related costs.
- Preparation of accurate and timely monthly reports.
- Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum level of academic qualification, skills and knowledge required to perform effectively in the role:
- A bachelor’s degree in law (LL. B).
- An Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- Successful candidates will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the constitution of Kenya by obtaining the necessary documentation.
Minimum level of professional qualification required to perform effectively in the role:
- Postgraduate Diploma in Law (KSL)
- A member of LSK in good standing.
