Job Summary
- The overall purpose of this job is to assist in providing individualized academic, social, and behavioural support to students with special educational needs. Working under the Learning Support Coordinator’s guidance, the intern will aid in delivering interventions, creating adapted materials, and tracking student progress. This role involves close collaboration with teachers and specialists to foster an inclusive learning environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support students individually or in small groups with tailored learning activities.
- Assist in preparing and adapting instructional materials.
- Provide regular updates to the Learning Support Coordinator and relevant staff on students’ progress and areas needing attention.
- Encourage positive behaviors, social skills, and engagement among students.
- Monitor and guide students in their interactions with peers to promote inclusion and a supportive classroom atmosphere.
- Engage in professional development focused on special education practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Special Needs Education)
- Basic knowledge of special education and strong communication skills.
- Candidates must have a TSC (Teachers Service Commission) number or be in the process of obtaining it.
Desired Competencies and Attributes
- Basic Understanding of Special Education practices, including individual learning needs and inclusive strategies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to work with students, parents, fellow teachers and administrators.
- Ability to think creatively and find solutions to support student learning effectively.
