- As we expand their operations in Nairobi, Kenya, we are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Officer. This role is essential to safeguard the well-being of our workforce, maintain regulatory compliance, and promote sustainable practices throughout the project lifecycle.
Position Overview:
- As the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel on-site while maintaining compliance with local and global health and safety standards. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential hazards, conducting regular inspections, and implementing necessary interventions to promote a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the On-Site Environmental, Health & Safety Officer, acting as a point of contact for all EHS-related matters.
- Conduct daily, full-time monitoring and review of site activities, focusing on Contractors and Vendors involved in CSA and MEP projects.
- Ensure strict compliance with the client's Health and Safety Standards by all Contractors and Vendors operating on-site.
- Implement appropriate interventions as needed to support Contractors and Vendors in adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
- Manage the reporting process for any accidents or incidents that occur on-site, promptly notifying all relevant stakeholders and providing detailed incident reports. 6. Ensure that all work activities are conducted in accordance with relevant Kenya Government legislation and global standards for environmental, health, and safety practices.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate personnel on site-specific safety procedures and best practices.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety inspections, incident reports, and compliance activities.
- Stay informed about emerging trends, regulations, and technologies in the field of environmental, health, and safety management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental health & safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field
- Professional certification in Occupational Health & Safety
- Proven experience working as an EHS Officer or similar role in a construction or industrial setting.
- In-depth knowledge of local and international health and safety regulations and standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with personnel at all levels.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential safety issues.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks in a fast- paced environment.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office suite and EHS management software.
