The primary objective of setting up the college was first as a stop gap measure to develop necessary skills to ensure continuity in port operations after the collapse of East African Railways and Harbours Corporation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction in Navigation, Cargo Handling, control of operations of ship and care of persons onboard and stowage and radio communication.
  • Oversee practical training using simulators and onboard training.
  • Participate in curriculum development and mentorship of cadets.
  • Train on Basic Safety Training.
  • CBET Training Delivery
  • CBET Assessment & Participate in Development Tools 
  • Compile Portfolio Evidence of CBET Trainee
  • Supervise Trade Project & Business Plan
  • Provide Results of the Assessment as Provided in the Assessment Schedule

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nautical Science or related field.
  • CoC It (A-II/1 or A-II/2).
  • STCW-compliant certification with sea service as Deck Officer.
  • Proficiency in using navigation simulators is an additional advantage.
  • Teaching qualification or experience preferred.
