Accounts Supervisor

Reporting to the Divisional Finance Manager, the job holder will be responsible for Maintaining the integrity of the financial accounting function in accordance with sound accounting practices, company policy and legislative requirements. Plan, organize, monitor, and review the work and performance of staff reporting to this function.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS standards.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and monitor, analysis, and report on the business performance against targets.
  • Prepare monthly statutory returns for Value Added Tax, Withholding Tax, and Installment tax.
  • Analyze all general ledger revenue, expense and balance sheet accounts and ensure that all balances therein are properly reconciled and sufficiently supported.
  • Preparation for Statutory Audits and ensure that the reports presented comply with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Undertake fixed asset and project accounting at the department.
  • Prepare the department’s budgets and share them with the Finance Manager.
  • Perform monthly variance analysis and guide for corrective action.
  • Monitor and manage all costs in the department to ensure all spending is within the set approval limits and are for the benefit of the department.
  • Work closely with the Departmental Managers and Finance Manager to undertake pricing decisions, considering the competitive environment as well as the department’s cost structure.
  • Manage the department’s cash and bank balances and ensure proper reconciliations are done monthly.
  • Supervise the collection team and ensure all accounts are collected on time, identify delinquent accounts, and recommend a way forward for each to the Finance Manager.
  • Manage timely reconciliation and settlement of supplier accounts at the department.
  • Implement the agreed internal control and internal check system within the department to ensure the safety and security of all company assets and compliance with financial procedures & policy.
  • Assist the Department Manager to mitigate all operational and financial risks in the department.
  • Plan, organize, monitor, and review the work and performance of staff reporting to this function.

Education, Professional Qualifications & Work experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance or Economics
  • CPA (K)/ACCA.
  • KCSE Minimum C (plain)
  • 3 – 5 years relevant financial experience in General Accounting
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation & budgeting processes
  • Understanding financial accounting and treasury
  • Knowledge of computerized financial systems
