Job Summary:
A Medical Superintendent is responsible for the overall management and administration of the healthcare facility. They oversee both the clinical and administrative aspects of the facility, ensuring the provision of quality patient care, efficient resource allocation, and adherence to health facilities policies and procedures. Their role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from strategic planning and budget management to staff supervision and quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Management:
- Developing and implementing long-term objectives and strategies for the health facility.
- Overseeing the health facility’s operational and financial performance.
- Managing the health facility budget and ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Monitoring key performance indicators and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Clinical Leadership and Oversight:
- Providing clinical leadership and guidance to medical staff.
- Ensuring the provision of high-quality medical care and patient safety.
- Monitoring and improving clinical outcomes.
- Overseeing the implementation of clinical protocols and procedures.
- Investigating and addressing patient complaints and medical errors.
- Staff Management and Development:
- Supervising and managing the work of medical and administrative staff.
- Identifying potential talent, training, and mentoring medical staff.
- Fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Quality Improvement and Compliance:
- Ensuring compliance with relevant healthcare regulations and standards.
- Implementing and monitoring quality improvement initiatives.
- Conducting regular audits to ensure adherence to health facility policies and procedures.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Representing the health facility in interactions with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.
- Communicating effectively with staff, patients, and other relevant parties.
- Collaborating with other departments and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless service delivery.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must have a degree in Medical Laboratory or relevant fields.
- Must be registered member and have a valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board
- At least 6 years of experience in Health management position.
- Must have demonstrated leadership and good performance in the previous assignments.
- Knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and policies.
- Must demonstrate Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
