  • The Operations Specialist will report to the Managing Director. Critical responsibilities will include but not limited operations management, Freight management system management, billing and payment collection.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and developing the operations team
  • Team support and organization – direct involvement in the process of quotations/tenders/operations
  • End-to-end responsibility for all freight transactions
  • Managing relationships with customers – a personal relationship with current exporters/importers, research for new opportunities, securing and growing new business locally
  • Negotiate and coordinate spot rates and/or quotations for LCL, FCL, air shipments, and all services within our client’s database.
  • Display a thorough understanding of industry-related terminology and processes.
  • Strategize ways of increasing profit margins, while keeping costs at a minimum.
  • Communicate with management on pricing desk performance and any issues that arise.
  • Follow up on quotations as needed and communicate positive or negative feedback in respect of being able to source the competitive rate to support the closure of all business opportunities.
  • Manage the login of all quotes and follow up on the quotes using the freight management system and CRM.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as requested or assigned by management.
  • Understand clients’ needs in order to strategy the costing and or pricing.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE:

  • Fluent in English & Swahili
  • Wide experience in air/ocean freight forwarding business.
  • Top communication skills
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Teamwork, good interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Problem-solving ability, particularly when working under pressure.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

Qualifications

  • Degree Or Diploma in Logistics, Freight Forwarding, or a similar discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Sales and Account Management in the
  • Ability to influence, negotiate and resolve internal and external conflicts.
  • Powers of persuasion, diplomatic panache, and excellent command of English & Swahili language.
