Job Summary

Pearl Hospital is a Level 4 multi-specialty hospital in Laikipia County. Guided by our values of Quality, Efficiency, Professionalism, and Compassion, we are seeking for a Medical Officer who will provide comprehensive medical care to patients by diagnosing, treating and preventing illnesses while ensuring high standards of clinical practice, patient safety and ethical conduct in line with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose, and treat patients in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings
  • ‎Prescribe appropriate medication and treatment plans in accordance with clinical guidelines
  • ‎Perform medical procedures within the scope of practice
  • ‎Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment as necessary
  • ‎Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient medical records
  • ‎Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and clinical audits
  • ‎Refer patients to specialists or higher-level facilities when necessary
  • ‎Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements
  • ‎Participate in continuous medical education and professional development
  • ‎Support junior staff, interns, and students through supervision and mentorship
  • ‎Promote preventive healthcare and patient education
  • ‎Respond to medical emergencies and provide on-call services as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) .
  • ‎Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC)
  • ‎Valid practicing license
  • ‎Minimum of 1 year post-internship experience 
  • ‎Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); ACLS is an added advantage
  • ‎Strong clinical, diagnostic, and decision-making 

Key Competencies

  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies.
  • Team player with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) is an added advantage.
