Job Specifications
Duties and responsibilities

  • Advising, implementing and interpreting financial policies andregulations
  • Implementing and reviewing of policies, rules, regulations and corporate strategies for sound financial management system
  • Providing input in the preparation of the Board’s budget
  • Preparing projected cash flow requirements for the Board
  • Ensuring proper and optimal financial control systems are in place
  • Monitoring accurate recording of financial transactions
  • Responding to audit queries
  • Carrying out financial analysis
  • Initiating the preparation of financial expenditure returns
  • Ensuring debit collection
  • Supervising credit control
  • Collecting and collating data on financial estimates;
  • Determining aggregate of the Board
  • Maintaining accurate books of investment funds and revenue accounting
  • Compiling revenue reports
  • Undertaking performance measurement within the department
  • Coordinating the allocations within budget programmes
  • Preparing development of Budget Policy and Policy analysis and the overall financial management and control of voted funds
  • Planning and budgeting for the Board

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:

  • Served in the grade of Accountant for a minimum period of four (4) years
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting/Finance Option), Business Administration (Accounting Option) or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution; Business Administration (Accounting option) Plus Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Membership of Institute of Certified Public Accountants Kenya (ICPAK);
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
  • Have demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution.
