We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team.

LOCATION: BUSIA

Overall Responsibility

To assess, plan, and implement individualized nutritional care for patients across all clinical departments, promoting optimal health outcomes through evidence-based dietary interventions, patient education, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team while supporting community and preventive nutrition programs aligned with the hospital\'s wellness strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for inpatients and outpatients using standardized screening tools.
  2. Develop individualized nutrition care plans based on clinical diagnosis, laboratory findings, and patient needs.
  3. Provide therapeutic nutrition management for patients with chronic illnesses (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, renal conditions, malnutrition).
  4. Offer nutrition counseling and education to patients, caregivers, and families to promote behavior change and treatment adherence.
  5. Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds and case reviews to integrate nutrition into overall patient management.
  6. Monitor and evaluate patients’ nutritional progress and adjust care plans accordingly.
  7. Lead malnutrition screening and prevention programs in line with national and international guidelines.
  8. Ensure compliance with SafeCare standards on clinical care, documentation, infection prevention, and patient safety.
  9. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nutrition assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  10. Support the development and implementation of hospital nutrition policies, protocols, and SOPs.
  11. Conduct nutrition-related health talks, community outreach programs, and wellness initiatives.
  12. Participate in audits, quality improvement projects, and data reporting to enhance service delivery.
  13. Collaborate with procurement and pharmacy teams to ensure availability of therapeutic feeds and nutrition supplies.
  14. Report and document any food safety concerns, adverse reactions, or quality issues in accordance with facility and regulatory guidelines.

Job Qualifications & Skills 

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized institution.
  2. Valid practicing license from the relevant regulatory body (e.g., Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute – KNDI).
  3. At least 1–2 years’ experience in a clinical or hospital setting (preferred).
  4. Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition, therapeutic diets, and public health nutrition.
  5. Familiarity with SafeCare standards and quality improvement frameworks (added advantage).
  6. Excellent counseling, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  7. Strong documentation, reporting, and data management skills.
  8. High level of professionalism, integrity, and patient-centered approach.
